East Renfrewshire Council Confirms No Change in Taxi Fare Rates

Following a detailed review and consultation, East Renfrewshire Council decides to maintain current taxi fares from June 9, inviting public feedback.

East Renfrewshire Council has confirmed that taxi fares will remain unchanged following a recent review involving consultations with local taxi operators. The decision ensures the current fare structure will stay effective from June 9.

Under the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982, councils must periodically review taxi charges to balance fair pricing for passengers and sustainable income for drivers. The council invited public feedback, allowing residents to submit written views by June 7.

Council officials stated:

"The review considered the needs of both the taxi trade and the travelling public to maintain service quality and affordability."

Taxi fare information is accessible online and at council offices for transparency.
