Emirates & Etihad Grounded: Manchester Passengers Face Disruptions

Flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and India halted at Manchester Airport, leaving passengers scrambling for rebookings, refunds, and alternative travel options.
Manchester Airport felt different this morning. Quieter in some corners. Tense in others. Emirates and Etihad Airways have grounded their Dubai and Abu Dhabi flights, leaving North West passengers staring at departure boards that aren’t changing.
India-bound services that usually pass over the Gulf? Paused as well. Plans carefully made, suddenly on hold.
One family from Bolton said they only found out after arriving at the terminal. Bags packed. Taxi paid. Now they’re trying to rebook. Airlines are offering refunds and flexible changes, but the queues are growing and information isn’t always clear.
Simon Calder stated:
"There are tens of thousands of people whose flights have been cancelled. All flights are having to avoid the Gulf. It is extremely messy."
Outside, drivers wait. Some bookings cancelled last minute. Others extended for rearranged pickups. If you’re heading to Manchester Airport, check your flight before you leave. Seriously. And give yourself extra time — things are moving, but not always smoothly.
