Flight Disruptions and Taxi Surge: UK Travellers Head to Cyprus with Extra Caution

UK travellers heading to Cyprus are facing flight delays, route changes, and rising taxi demand. Stay informed with the latest updates, travel tips, and guidance from the UK Foreign Office to make your journey smoother.

UK travellers planning holidays to Cyprus are starting to feel a bit unsure. The island is still a favourite Mediterranean escape for many Brits. Sun. Beaches. Easy flights. That’s the usual story. But lately, the journey there? Not quite so simple.

The UK government still lists Cyprus as safe to visit. That hasn’t changed. On paper everything looks normal. But the mood around travel feels different now. Airlines are adjusting routes. Flights delayed. Some cancelled too, sometimes with little warning.

Carriers like British Airways and easyJet have already shuffled parts of their schedules. Not everywhere, not all routes. Still, enough to make travellers open their flight apps again. And again. Just to be sure.

Then comes the airport trip itself. And honestly, that part is getting tricky. Taxi demand near major airports has quietly jumped. Drivers say people are leaving earlier now. Much earlier. Some turning up hours before their flights, just in case something goes wrong.

Around places like Heathrow Airport and Manchester Airport, pre-booked cars are becoming the safer bet. More predictable. Less stress. Or at least that’s what people hope.

Nick Aristou, commercial director at Muskita Hotels, stated:

"Most of the cancellations, I would say about 90 per cent, are all for March, about 10 per cent for April."

So travellers are adjusting. Checking flights the night before. Booking taxis early. Looking at their travel insurance again too. Cyprus is still open. Holidays still happening. But getting there right now? It takes a bit more planning than it used to.
